D4C - Klice, Sady and BN
Par BlancheNeige • 8 août, 2009 • Catégorie: Interviews •Here is the real interview.
Hello and welcome!
BlancheNeige : Hi
Sady : Hello
Klice : Hello !
Why did you decide to hold a warsow lan and have you held any other events?
BN : It’s all thank to Klice.
Few months after the first LAN, we were a lil’bit sad to not meet again but no one had enough motivation to organise a second edition.
We haven’t seen Apogee on IRC since december, I cba…
Then Klice said he would do it. I didn’t believe he meant it but here we are.
As you may know, Warcho is one of the most active community on Warsow.
We hosted 4 or 5 duel cups, one newbie cup, a LAN. Except for the newbie cup, it was internal to warcho.
Sady : Well, I couldn’t go to the first lan, I was so disappointed about that, so when Klice came with “what about another lan guys ?”, I was so excited and decided to help him with staff.
And I did never hold any other events such as lans. I even never went to one.
Klice : I would have gone to the first LAN but finally I haven’t come. Then they say that they’ll do another one at summer. So a day, I ask “When we can do the LAN ?” and I received an answer from BN “If you want it to happen, manage it !”, that’s what I did. This is my first time in organizing events, fortunately I was nicely helped.
How do you feel the planning for this event is going, with the event only one month away? ( everything sorted? any problems?)
BN : We still have minor things to do.
I don’t think we will sell any t-shirts. It would be quit expansive for us and for our players.
My main concern is players cancelling at the last minute. We repeated over and over to be 100% sure before sending an email to Sady.
We are actually thinking of a way to discourage that / to minimize the consequences
We would be in a big financial shit if it happens.
Also, I hope we’ll play on 0.5 final release.
Sady : We already are in a big financial shit, so sign up and come to Paris people.
Klice : I feel ok, it lasts some thing like arranging the duel cup, reducing “big financial shit” as much as we can, wswtv and so on.
How do you feel the event has grown from last years? ( and do you see this as a good thing?)
BN : 30 players from 6 different countries. The youngest is 13yo, some of them come by plane, have booked a hotel room.
We got a cashprize, a shoutcaster for the finals and other surpises.
While we were ~13 players and no prizes in december.
Klice : It grows well
And with no warsow lans insight since crossfire dropped it, do you see more lans being run and it becoming a more regualer and supported event?
BN : No. Why bother with warsow when you can play so many games and win $$$$ ?
Why would you, as a company, support warsow ?
Our player base isn’t big enough.
One of our asset was a friendly and helpful community. I don’t know if it’s still valid today.
Klice : I have the secret hope that there’ll be other dash4cash edition, with better organization, support and less issues. That’s why I’m ready to put a lot of myself in it.
How do you feel this will have an effect on the warsow scene? (draw more players?)
BN : No.
Sady : Yes! It’s always exciting to see a lan happenned, we will keep memories, photos, etc; then new players or current ones will (maybe) take more attention to warsow since they will think it’s an active game with events! ;p
Klice : With good coverage, it could brings new players for a time. Are they going to stay ? It depends on the game and other LAN !
Did you ever expect the event to have this amount of interest?
BN : No. But Sady’s effect still works. I’m disappointed that my sex appeal didn’t work so well for the previous LAN.
And 29/30 of August seems a good date for everyone.
Sady: Never doubted my girl’s powers. Nah, I was pleasantly surprised to see all those ‘not french’ people signing up and taking care that much about this lan.
Klice : Not at all, and more about strangers interest. I’m proud of taking part in this event, maybe it will encourages other people to organize their own LAN.
How do you feel about prize money being donated and how much will the prize pot be at this event?
BN : Ahhh. We are currently thinking about the cashprize. It’ll be as big as possible and there will be other prizes too.
The repartition should be : 1st 50% 2nd 30% 3rd 20% of the pot.
Klice : Money brings more player but it turns the lan into something less.. fun. We have 250€ from warsow donation and a dvd/cd player. And other prizes as BN said.
And what do you feel the final standing of this event will turn out like?!
BN : Gohlink versus reload maybe.
I hope Bruns and Scoob will train as much as possible and give us some very exciting matches.
Sady : GoHLink vs h1o (hoping for it)
What would you like to see change with this event for it to become picture perfect for you?
BN : I can’t answer this question right now. I’ll have to wait until the end of the event to know that.
But if I have to say something : I want everyone to have fun, no insult/flame, nothing too serious.
And was soon as they left, they start thinking : “God, When is the next one ?”
Sady: I want sponsors and I want more sign ups!
And then, I obviously hope people will enjoy it and we will have lots of fun.
Klice : As Sady said, more player and more sponsoring. But I couldn’t really answer since the LAN hasn’t happenned already. Maybe a better coverage and interest from people/website who are not connected to warsow.
